Named defendant in Featherstone v. Kennedy Krieger Institute, Inc. (Case No. 24-C-07-002027, filed 03/22/2007). Voluntarily dismissed from Featherstone on 01/06/2010. Settlement with costs paid 04/20/2010.

Also named as a defendant in Ervin v. Kennedy Krieger Institute (Case No. 24-C-04-007424).

The federal court rejected this characterization. Judge William M. Nickerson wrote that NIEHS's control was designed to ensure procedural uniformity across a multi-center trial, not to further any federal policy.
